Celebrating Generations of Craftsmanship
Master Wood Sculptor
Since the 1960s and 70s, my father, Harald (born 1943), has dedicated his life to crafting stunning wood sculptures. After several years in sawmilling and lumberjacking, he expanded his business to create outdoor toys for kindergartens, primarily using a chainsaw.
His imaginative creations—including airplanes, boats, and massive wooden shoes measuring three to four meters—were shipped to kindergartens and playgrounds throughout southern Norway. As his reputation grew, so did the demand for his artistic sculptures. While wood remains his preferred medium, Harald has also explored clay, ceramics, and bronze, producing an impressive array of works over more than 40 years. His commitment to quality craftsmanship has made his art widely recognized.
A New Generation Joins the Journey
Now, it's time for the next genaration to embark on this creative journey alongside their father and grandfather. Their approach to woodworking is unique, as they utilize the internet, YouTube, and social media to gain knowledge and inspiration. This collaboration presents a wonderful opportunity for them to learn from a master who has thrived without digital influence for decades.
My role in this story is to bridge the gap between generations. I hope to see my children benefit from my father's lifelong knowledge while also exploring the diverse inspirations available in today’s world.
Let the creation begin!
